One in four parents 'does not engage in soft play with kids every night'

Date: 15/12/2009 / Category: School holidays and working parents

New research suggests that forty percent of fathers do not get to engage in soft play with their children every night.

The research, conducted by OnePoll on behalf of HomeAway.co.uk, quizzed 2,000 fathers on how much time they spend with their children.

It has revealed that the average dad spends just 15 minutes with their kids before they go to work and just one hour and 19 minutes after work.

A spokesperson for HomeAway.co.uk said: ''It's sad that dads get so little time with their kids during the week and that many return home from work to find them fast asleep in bed."

Half of the fathers surveyed said they are too tired to play with their sons or daughters when they get home from work.

The spokesperson said that parents today lead "hectic lifestyles" but that holidays have become a key time for dads to re-establish bonds with their kids.

During holidays, parents could consider spending time with their children at soft play centres, which provide a safe, fun environment for kids.

Gambado play centres are holding a number of indoor Christmas parties over the coming weeks, providing a good opportunity for parents to bond with their children.
