Celebrate the royal wedding with a tea party fit for little princesses

Date: 21/04/2011 / Category: School holidays and working parents

Royal wedding fever is sweeping the globe, capturing the imaginations of little girls worldwide, not to mention their mums and grans - after all, marrying a prince has long been the ultimate fairytale. Think Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty! The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is set for Friday April 29th, and millions of people from around the world are set to tune in to witness the real life fairytale.

Mums can make the day magical for their little ones too, by treating them to a very English tea party in celebration of the momentous occasion. Dig deep into the dressing up box to create glittering princess gowns for the girls, while the boys could don red, white and blue to get into the spirit.

The Disney Family website suggests some fun activities for the day, such as creating a Princess Kate Paper Doll. Despite the fact, Kate Middleton's dress has been kept strictly under wraps ahead of the big day, kids can have loads of fun with the paper doll Kate, and the Disney princess frocks to dress her up with. Those who feel their regal outfit is missing a glam tiara can add the final touch to their outfit with a little help from print-outs on the website.

A tea party would not be complete without some elegant, and very British snacks. One suggestion is for Mum to bake or buy some buns and then let the kids loose with red, white and blue icing to create union jack designs, hearts or crowns.

For crafty kids, the website suggests creating their very own coat of arms, choosing four elements of their personality to represent them on the design.
However, before the royal wedding takes place, the kids have got Easter to look forward to. With chocolate eggs hidden around the house and garden by the Easter bunny, could there be a more exciting time for children?
