Constant snacking may be detrimental to children's health.

Providing kids with a substantial, healthy meal at soft play centers is likely to deter snacking,

Spokesperson for according to the National Obesity Forum Tam Fry suggested that the UK "snacking rate" is contributing significantly to overweight and obese children.

She added: "A lot of children are snacking because they are trying to compensate for the lack of healthy meals.

"If you don't get proper meals – you have the temptation to want to snack."

The comments follow the publication of research by Datamonitor, which indicated that one in three children between the age of five and 13 years old are overweight.

This is set to rise by 2.1 per cent year-on-year to 2014, driven by high levels of confectionary and savoury snack expenditure.
