Hold a birthday party fit for a princess

Date: 14/03/2011 / Category: Kids party ideas

With the royal wedding being everywhere at the moment, lots of little girls will be hoping that one day they will meet prince charming and become a princess too. So what better way to give them their dream birthday than by holding a princess-themed bash?

The Disney Family website has some great tips on how to make any princess themed party as fabulous as it can possibly be.

Kick the party off with crafts and treats, advises the site. One princess-themed craft is making songbirds from pom-poms, which will remind Disney-obsessed kids of the scene in Sleeping Beauty where Aurora sings in the forest. The writer suggests either preparing them before as a table decoration or having the kids make their own.

A princess party would not be complete without crowns - so why not have the party-goers make some of these too, says the writer. They are incredibly easy to make and little girls will love wearing them too.

If your little princess is more of a Little Mermaid fan, one great tip offered by the site is to use sea shells and fishing nets to decorate the party tables. Swapping plastic party bags for a sand castle bucket filled with stickers and other nautical themed goodies is one original idea which is bound to impress the kids - as well as the other parents. A game of musical chairs can be transported to the ocean floor with the addition of music from the film, with Under the Sea bound to be a crowd-pleaser.

Cinderella is always a favourite with little girls, who love the rags to riches story. The writer suggests arranging a game of Put the Glass Slipper on Cinderella, which is similar to Pin the Tail on the Donkey, but with a life size paper image of the princess instead.
