Exercise for kids 'should last at least an hour a day'
Date: 10/12/2010 / Category: Kids party ideas
Children need at least an hour of physical activity per day to stay fit and healthy, the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has said, which may be achieved by taking them to soft play centres.
The centre encouraged parents to incorporate physical activities into things such as family gatherings, playtime and children's birthday parties, as well as finding out which sports and activities their children enjoy.
Kids can also get fit while they help their community through things such as planting trees and helping neighbours with cleaning and tidying, the centre said.
Music can also help to liven up household chores and fit exercise for kids into the daily routine.
Recently, a study in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine suggested that even children who take part in their school's sports teams do not get the recommended amount of exercise, pointing to a need for more fitness for kids activities.
