Dancing is 'fun exercise for kids'

Dancing is one of many things to do with kids that will help them to stay fit while having a good time, it has been claimed.

Encouraging children to dance at soft play parties may even see a number of mums and dads joining in too, according to Strictly Come Dancing professional Ian Waite, in an interview with the Daily Mirror.

He told the newspaper: "I can't think of another form of exercise everyone can really enjoy. The social element alone is worth it.

"We've got a big problem with overweight kids and if there's one way to get them enjoying exercise, dancing is it."

It would appear dancing can be hugely beneficial to both youngsters and the elderly alike, with research by scientists at the University of Missouri indicating that a bit of boogying can improve pensioners' balance and gait, reducing the risk of falls.

Dancing was also found to improve walking speed and balance among elderly participants.
