Children need play parameters, says expert

Parents should give their children certain parameters before letting them play with other youngsters, it has been claimed.

Stacy DeBroff, chief executive of parenting advice website Mom Central, told CBS that visits should be kept relatively short the first time children play with other youngsters and they should be encouraged to avoid situations where someone is likely to be the 'odd-one-out'.

She added: "Let your child know that it's okay for her to call you at any hour if she feels uncomfortable, and that you will come and pick her up without being angry or disappointed."

Ms DeBroff went on to say that parents should ask youngsters questions if they have been playing under the supervision of another parent and when taking responsibility of youngsters themselves, parents should do everything they would expect of other guardians.

Earlier this week, Mick Conway from Play England told the BBC that indoor play centres encourage children to be creative.ADNFCR-2594-ID-19332247-ADNFCR
