Early child education vital for sustainable future
Date: 13/09/2010 / Category: Indoor Play for kids
Besides promoting fitness for kids, it is also important to ensure that children learn the importance of a sustainable future.
In order to secure the future of the earth and to ensure that children, who are the citizens of tomorrow, take the right decisions and make the adequate changes, it is important to teach them early the values of preserving their environment, it has been suggested.
Speaking at the recent World Congress hosted by the University of Gothenburg, Ingrid Pramling Samuelsson, professor in early childhood education at the university, highlighted the importance of such early teachings.
She explained: "Research shows the advantages of starting at an early age. Children understand what is important in relation to their own environment and based on their own experiences."
Her comments follow in the wake of those by Christine Blower, general secretary for the National Union of Teachers, who pointed out that decreasing class sizes would work in the favour children with each pupil receiving more personalised attention from the teachers.
