Soft play for kids 'part of mainstream education in Gwersyllt'
Date: 12/03/2010 / Category: Indoor play for disability schools and groups
An inclusive education system in Gwersyllt allows children with disabilities to attend mainstream schooling, with local school Ysgol Heulfan equipped with facilities including indoor soft play for kids in the area of varying abilities.
One part of the school, Y Canol, is specifically designed to accommodate the special needs of some pupils, including an area of soft play for kids who need help with their motor skills, reports the Leader.
Tactile elements are used throughout the special part of the school, allowing sensory-deprived children to navigate by touch.
Examples include attaching a small piece of towelling to the door that leads to the hydrotherapy pool, while a fake ponytail marks the door to long-haired head of the facility Wendy Jones' office.
The Wrexham educational facility was given cause for celebration in November when it was praised across a broad range of its teaching practices for innovation and effective motivational techniques.
