A school and training centre especially designed to cater for the needs of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is to be build in Manchester and will include a soft play area.
Brand new facilities, costing £14 million, are to be created on Mount Road in Gorton.
The new education centre will increase the current roll of pupils aged four to 19 currently at the Grange School on Dickenson Road from 80 to 150.
Andrew Smith, head teacher at Grange School, said that the new site will offer more than a specialist education to those with ASD.
"It will also allow teachers working with children with ASD in mainstream schools across Manchester to use Grange as a central point for advice, information and support," he stated.
As well as a soft play area and sports hall, the new school will also include an allotment and sensory rooms.
According to the NHS, some children with autism have sensory difficulties and problems with movement and balance.
Indoor play centres provide a safe fun environment for kids and many, like the new school, include special sensory development areas.
